Lizzy Martin
Baldwinsville Rotary
CNY Rotary President 2024-25
Empire MD PELS Vice Chair 2025-26

Lizzy was born in Ithaca, New York and raised on a dairy farm in the southern tier. She studied Public Relations and earned a communications degree from SUNY Oswego in 2006. Following graduation she moved to the Syracuse area and started her career in newspaper advertising. Her position has transitioned over the years to focus on digital marketing under the banner of Advance Media New York, still working directly with The Post-Standard and syracuse.com for 18 years. She lives in Baldwinsville with her husband Scott, dog Vinny and a cat named Mouse. She enjoys being creative, spending time with family and friends, and having cookouts and campfires.

In 2009, Lizzy joined Rotary at the age of 25, upon the urging of her granddad, who was a Past District Governor 1991-92 (Ithaca Rotary Club). Her father is also a Past District Governor 2012-13 and is a member of the Ithaca Rotary Club to this day. Soon after joining, Lizzy became club secretary and remained in that role for over a decade, minus the year she served as Club President in 2019-20. She has been active on several committees for our club over the years, mainly in public image roles like newsletter editor, managing the club’s web site and social media accounts.
Lizzy has also been active at the district level, working with several Past District Governors as their District Conference chair, serving as the Public Image Chair since 2015 and joining the membership team in 2021 to help with Innovative Clubs. In 2024, she became the first District President of a newly formed CNY Rotary, born out of three legacy districts that brought together more than 100 clubs and almost 3,000 members. The role required a lot of innovation, implementing new ideas that married the traditions worth keeping with creative approaches to everything from membership, to communications, to the entire leadership structure. As District President, she worked with an executive committee making group decisions on how to lead the region.
Now, as an Immediate Past District President, she is continuing to serve on the executive committee for continuity, while taking on new roles like Vice Chair of MD PELS. This means Lizzy will become the Chair of Empire MD PELS starting in July 2026, to serve a three year term in supporting incoming district leaders in preparing their club leaders. She is looking forward to bringing the same innovation and creative thinking to the structure of PELS so that many hands can make light work to grow and expand this learning program.

Lizzy is a graduate of Rotary Leadership Institute, a Paul Harris +5, and a Bequest Society member.
